The Birthday Dragon

Johnny's birthday was coming soon. In fact, literally soon! In less than two days, Johnny would be turning 17. Despite that he was getting older, he didn't feel any older.

Friday was finally over. After finishing up his homework, Johnny went to bed. It was already 12:05 AM. He hadn't pulled an allnighter in a long time. The birthday boy lay on his bed and quickly fell asleep.

The next day, Johnny's brother, Carlos screamed at him to get up. Johnny drearily got out of bed, still half-asleep. Carlos never wakes up this early, nonetheless earlier than Johnny himself.

"What up?" Johnny asked. His parents as well as his 20 year old brother and 13 year old brother were all up already.

"Well son." His dad began. "We all wanted to give you an early birthday present."

Johnny's mom went to the living room and got his gift. When she returned, she was holding a vial. Within the contents of the vile was a potion.

"Mom? What's that?" Johnny asked, unenthused by his strange gift.

"It's a potion that has been in our family ever since your grandfather was a kid. Only when a male of out family turns 17 may he drink this."

"But I'm not 17 yet." Johnny stated.

"You should be able to drink it since it's near your birthday." His mom said. "But we should go outside if you're going to drink it."

Johnny and his family went outside. Johnny uncorked the vial and put it to his lips. At first he took a sip, then found himself to be drinking the whole thing.

"Well, Johnny?" His mom asked.

"What was that?" He asked.

"A potion. A transformation potion." His dad explained.

"WHAT?!" Johnny exclaimed.

Johnny's clothes began to tear and rip as he gained more mass. His pants ripped open and a long and beautiful tail grew out. Black scales covered the boy's new appendage. Red spikes emerged from the tail as they grew until they reached his head.  This caused his hair to fall out, strand by strand until he was completely bald.

His face grew longer, becoming a long, smooth snout, complete with slits. His shirt ripped apart, revealing a massive pair of wings, just big enough to fit on his back. His body grew scales all over as his hands and feet chanmged and became bigger and grew claws at the end. Both his pinkies(Hands and feet) and his thumbs and big toes fused into his body, leaving only three claws on his feet and hands. Horns emerged from his head, they were also a deep red. It was hard to tell, but Johnny's horns were soaked in blood.

His ears grew and extended into fanlike fins. His transformation eared its end with his scales covering his whole body. All that was left were for his eys to change which didn't take long. His eyes stung for a short time as they became red iris with a slit in each eye. He then began to grow bigger and gained more mass. His tail ballooned its way out to match up with his new body. At last, Johnny's transformation was complete.

Johnny moved his mighty head to get a good look at his backyard. He was even bigger than the backyard! He was a 23 ft dragon with an 8 ft wingspan. To him, this was awesome!

"Whatd'ya think, son?" Johnny's mom asked.

Johnny was unable to speak now. He extended his paw out and gave a thumbs up sign.

Ever since then, Johnny has always enjoyed his dragon form more than his human form. In fact, his friends don't even know that he prefers sleeping as a 23 ft tall lizard with wings.No, to them, he's just a normal boy.
