The Ten Year Old Dragon

Kanta was a little boy whose birthday was tomorrow. He was really excited. All his friends and family would be there. And of course, he'd get to eat his favorite sweets.

"Kanta, honey?" His mom called.

"Hi, mom." Kanta greeted.

"Tomorrow's your birthday. I bet your excited, huh?"

"Yeah! It's gonna be fun!" The little guy said happily.

"Yeah. You're gonna be a big boy. And big boys get to stay home alone."

"You mean..." Kanta said with his eyes lit up.

"That's right. Tonight you get to stay home while I go to the store." Not telling him which store.

"Alright! This is going to be great!" Kanta shouted with glee.

"Good night, Kanta."

"Good night, mommy."

Unfortunately for Kanta, he slept all while he was alone.

The next morning, Kanta felt sick. His insides hurt and his stomach felt like it was on fire.

"Happy birthday, Kanta!" his friends and family shouted.

Kanta felt like he was going to throw up and he did. Right in front of them.

"Kanta, are you alright?" His mom asked, placing a hand on his forehead.

"You're burning up!"

Kanta ran for the bathroom. He knew he wasn't done throwing up. He got to the toilet and barfed into it. But what he saw shocked him. His teeth came out when he puked. He got up and his face began to hurt. It began to lengthen until it became a snout. Afterward, fangs grew out of his new snout and became his new teeth.

"Kanta, are you allright?" His friend, Hikari asked.

Kanta and Hikari were childhood friends. He couldn't stand to let Hikari see him now. He ran to the door and shut it, being careful not to let anyone see his snout. He felt pain in his back. His spine grew out and became a tail. It was green on the top and the underside was yellow.

"AAAHH!" Kanta shouted in both pain and terror.

"Kanta, open the door!" His mom commanded.

Kanta knew he couldn't open the door. He thought he looked like a freak. After all, he thought, what kid has a snout and tail?

"Help me." Kanta quietly said as he started to silently cry.

Howver, his transformation continued. His ears were the next thing to change. They grew and changed shape until they became fins. His back began to hurt again. His skin ripped in two different places as wings came through.  His hands and feet were the next things to change. They became digitigrade and grew claws. Kanta fell on the floor and found that his posture was sentenced to a draconic, quadruped stance.

"Why is this happening? Why is this happening to ME?" Kanta thought. Still sobbing.

His tail started to hurt. Sharp spikes grew out of it and continued until they reached where the tail connected to him. Horns grew out and crowned his head. He looked at what used to be his arms and saw no skin. Instead it was replaced with scales. All that was left of his humaity were his eyes which still looked human. That didn't last though. His eyes started to hurt. He squinted them shut, hoping it would be less painful. He couldn't stand anymore of the pain and passed out.

When he woke up, he saw his friends and family looking at him. He was found out.

"That's all that happened to you?" His mom asked. "Don't worry." Your dragon blood just awoke.

"What are you talking about, mom?" He asked.

"You come from a  long line of half-dragons. When someone in our family turns ten, their dragon blood awakens."

"So, does that mean Kanta's a monster?" His friend, Ichiro asked.

"Oh, no." Kanta said sadly.

"No no. Kanta's not a monster. He can still become human but he'll still have dragon features.

"Like what?" asked Kanta.

"Your tail might still show. And you'll have pointed ears. Now enough of that. Let's enjoy the party."

"YEAH!" The kids, along with Kanta shouted happily.

"Kanta?" Hikari asked.

"Yeah?" asked Kanta back.

"I don't care if you're a dragon or whatever. I still love you." Hikari said blushing too embarrassed to look at Kanta.

"WHAT!?" Kanta thought.

Kanta had always secretly loved Hikari, but was too embarrassed to admit it to her.

After that, Kanta's party went well. As he tried blowing out the candles, he actually set them ablaze. He wasn't just a ten year old boy, he was a ten year old dragon.
