On that day, nine year old Emily and her family had gone to Toys r Us. Just like all the other times they had gone there, she knew what would happen: her older brother, David would go check out the video games while her younger brother, Hugo would go to the boy aisle and check out toys like Transformers, Minecraft, and Star Wars. And of course, she would go to her favorite aisle: the one with the ponies.

Emily was the middle of three children. Her older brother, David was eighteen years old and her younger brother Hugo was six. She always thought it was hard being the only girl. For most of her life, she really didn’t share too much in common with her brothers. While her brothers preferred things such as video games or action figures, she preferred playing with dolls and pony toys. Ever since Emily could remember, she was always a big fan of the My Little Pony cartoons. Actually, it was her mother who got her into the series. Emily’s mom wasn’t that much older than Emily herself when MLP first made its debut. And now, some thirty years after the brand’s birth, it made Emily’s mother happy to know that she had something in common with her child that they could bond over. Emily still remembered the day her mom told her that a new My Little Pony series was going to air. Emily was only six at the time but she could still remember how excited the news made her.  When the big day came and the first episode aired, she and her mother sat down and watched it together. With the end of the first episode, Emily instantly fell in love with the show.

Emily’s brothers didn’t share her love for the show however. Or at the very least, one of them didn’t. Hugo thought the show was stupid a sentiment he at first shared with his big brother. However, some time after the first season ended, David sat down and watched a few episodes. He discovered online that there were guys who called themselves Bronies who claimed to be fans of the show. David thought it was a joke. Why would guys his age or even older claim to like a show meant for little girls in preschool and grade school? There was no way they were serious. Much to his surprise though, David discovered that these guys truly did like My Little Pony. Determined to find out what it was that made these guys and his little sister go crazy for the show, David took to the internet and searched for some episodes to watch. His plan at first was just to watch two or three episodes but by the time he got to the third, he decided to watch another. Then another. Then another. In just two days, David had ended up going through the entire first season. Not only had he realized just what made the show so enjoyable but he had also become a fan of it in the process. When he told his little sister what he thought of the show, she was ecstatic to hear that she and her brother finally had something in common. Hugo, however, didn’t quite share in the same excitement. He felt that his big brother had gone over to “the dark side”.

“We’re going to take Hugo over to look at the toys. David, can you watch Emily?” Their dad asked.

“Sure dad. No problem.” David smiled.

Emily raced ahead to the aisle with the My Little Pony toys. She wanted to get a plushie of her favorite pony, Rainbow Dash. Emily greatly admired Rainbow Dash. She wanted to be just like her: cool, fearless, and tough. Whenever she would go outside and play, she would always ride around outside on her scooter, declaring “I’m Rainbow Dash and I’m awesome!” Whenever she played together with her friends, they would pretend they were the ponies in the show and she would always choose to be Rainbow Dash.

“DAVID! COME ON! HURRY UP!!!” Yelled Emily so loudly that the whole store could hear her.

“I’m coming!” David yelled back. “Geez, relax. The toys aren’t going anywhere.” He said to himself.

When he got to the aisle, he found his little sister frantically searching through the huge pile of plushies, causing one to drop on the ground. After some quick searching, Emily pulled out a giant plush of Rainbow Dash. It was twenty inches and its hair was made up of a couple yellow and red ribbons. While David thought that the plush could have looked a bit more like the character, he knew how happy it made his little sister and that was much more important.

Her arms wrapped tightly around the plushie and a wide smile on her face, Emily and Davis rejoined their parents and younger brother who was carrying an action figure of Optimus Prime.

“Mom, dad, look what I found!” Exclaimed Emily, happily showing her parents the toy she wanted to buy.

Her mom took the toy and examined the price tag. $29.99 it read. Her heart sank when she saw the huge price for it.

“Sweetie, I’m sorry but we don’t have enough money to buy this.” Her mom said empathetically.

Hearing her mom say that made the little girl upset. She started to sniffle, taking the toy back from her mom and wrapping her arms tighter around it. She really wanted the plushie and she wasn’t willing to give it up.

David pulled out his wallet to see how much money he had. Forty dollars. He did want to use that money to get a new game but he knew how badly Emily wanted Rainbow Dash. Well, he figured, the game was new so it wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Besides, if he got it later, it would probably be cheaper then.

“Hey Em, I’ve got enough money. If you want me to, I’ll pay for your toy.” Said David.

“Really, David?” Emily smiled upon hearing her brother say that.

David nodded.

“Oh David, thank you!” Emily exclaimed, hugging her older brother almost as tightly as she had been hugging Dash.

“That’s really nice of you David.” Said their father.

With that, the family paid for the toys and returned home. Once they got in the car, Emily immediately pulled Rainbow Dash out of the bag and hugged her new friend all the way home.

As soon as they got back home, Emily and Hugo rushed into their rooms, excited to play with their new toys. Emily closed her bedroom door and laid her new toy on her desk. The plushie’s head rested over a drawing Emily had done of a pony she made up. She called the pony “Sunshine Excitement”. Her character was a small pegasus filly with an orange coat and bright red mane and tail and just like Emily, the little pegasus had gorgeous green eyes. Emily had come up with a couple stories involving her character. In them, Sunshine Excitement was the newest member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Together, the four of them would try to find their special talents in things ranging from writing books to something dangerous like lion taming. She was also a skilled flyer and would try to help Scootaloo fly. Just like Scootaloo, Sunshine also greatly admired Rainbow Dash and hoped that one day, she would be as great a flyer as she was.

Emily grabbed her figures of each of the Mane Six and plopped down on her floor. She pretended that Twilight Sparkle was on her way to Rarity’s boutique when she ran into Pinkie Pie.

“Hi Twilight! Where are you going?” Emily asked, pretending to be Pinkie.

“Hi Pinkie Pie. I’m going to Rarity’s to pick up a new dress she made for me.” Emily, now pretending to be Twilight explained.

“Cool! Can I come too?” Emily asked, going back to using her Pinkie voice.

As the little girl became lost in her world of ponies, the drawing she did of Sunshine Excitement began to emit a small dim glow.

Two hours later, Emily finished playing with her toys. As she stood up, she noticed the strange glow coming from her drawing. Even though she was only a little kid, Emily knew this wasn’t natural. She had no idea what was going on. When she tried to pick up the piece of paper, a painful feeling surged through her arm, causing her to stagger back a bit but not before letting out a pained yelp.

Her arm was tingling in pain. She held it tightly, hoping for the pain to go away. What she saw next caused her pained look to become a more fearful one. Her fingers were disappearing into her hand! Slowly they retreated into her body until all that was left was something she thought looked like a stump. The same thing happened with her other arm. She fell forward as she felt the bones in her legs snap and reform. Now on all fours, Emily looked back and noticed how different her legs looked now. Yet, at the same time, they also looked…familiar. But…that couldn’t be…

Her hair turned bright red and shrunk a little until it was only up to her neck. Her now deformed arms began to turn a bright orange as a thin coat began to form over them. She watched as the orange coat traveled up her arm and into her shirt. As she looked at her arms, her suspicions were proven true: she was turning into a pony!! She realized what that meant for her arms: they hadn’t turned into stumps, they had turned into hooves. What she didn’t realize however was just which pony she was becoming.

Pain surged throughout Emily’s back. Two lumps appeared from her shirt, soon ripping open, revealing a pair of feathery wings. Panting, Emily looked behind herself, noticing her new appendages. She couldn’t believe it. She had an actual set of pegasus wings! She tried to fly but found it difficult with how small and undeveloped her wings were. Then suddenly, pain shot through her back yet again. Her shorts ripped open as a bright red tail spilled out of them. Looking back again, Emily watched as she tried to swish her new tail around. This was so incredible to her. These hooves, these wings, her tail. They were all real! It was so hard to comprehend!

Her ears moved to the top of her head. They grew upward, stretching as they turned into the ears of a pony. As the coat began to cover her entire body, Emily’s face stung for a short time as it grew outward, forming into a small round muzzle. Her nostrils had changed into two little slits. Once her face and ceased aching, then it was her eyes’ turn to hurt. She instinctively shut them as she felt them growing bigger in order to accommodate her newly changed skull.

And then finally, the last part of her transformation had come. With the coat having finally covered her entire body, Emily shrank. The room around her grew bigger. Once she was done shrinking, she found herself completely covered by her former clothes. As she wriggled her way out, she noticed just how different things looked now. She was little before she thought but now she felt tiny.

She looked over her new body. She just couldn’t believe that what happened to her. She wasn’t even really sure how or why it happened. Then it hit her. She immediately rushed over to her desk and hopped onto her chair. It was then that she had come to truly understand what had happened to her: not only had she become a pony, she became Sunshine Excitement! Emily had become her own character! She looked back once again only this time, she checked her flank, hoping to find a cutie mark there. When she noticed that she didn’t have one, her ears drooped down in annoyance.

“Of course I’d be a blank flank.” She grumbled to herself, now wishing she had given Sunshine a cutie mark.

The little filly looked around her desk, trying to find what could have possibly been the cause for her transformation. She noticed her Rainbow Dash plushie which she was now about the same size as. She had left the plushie’s head resting on the drawing. Could that have been it she thought. Could it have actually been her plushie that have somehow turned her into Sunshine? It was just too hard for her to believe.

Just then, a knock came at her door. It was her mom letting her know that dinner was going to be soon. Emily gasped. She had gotten so caught up in her change that she didn’t even think about how her family would react. She wasn’t sure if they’d accept her as a pony even if her big brother and her mother loved ponies.

“Okay mom! Umm…I don’t think I’m gonna eat! I don’t feel good!” Emily yelled to her mom, trying to make up an excuse.

“You? Not eat? That’s surprising. No matter how sick you get, you’re always still ready to eat. Why don’t you really want to come down?” Emily’s mom asked.

“I really don’t feel good. I’ll eat later.” Emily protested, trying her hardest to get her mom to leave her alone.

“Can I come in Emily?” Her mom asked, slowly opening the door.

“NO!” Emily exclaimed, falling out of her chair as she had tried to get to the door before her mom opened it.

It was too late though. Her mom had beaten her to the punch. When Emily’s mom noticed the little filly laying there trying to get up she gasped. She ran over to her daughter, almost in total disbelief that this small pony could be Emily.

“Emily…is that you?” Her mom asked breathlessly.

Emily sighed. Her secret had been found out. She knew she wouldn’t be able to hide it anymore.

“Yeah…I’m a pony now.” She said, fearing what was going to come next.

Her mom brought her closer to her, hugging the small pegasus. This made Emily feel slightly better. As she held Emily in her arms, she felt her wings and her tail. They were real. It wasn’t just a crazy dream she was having. Her own daughter, who she had raised for nine years, had been turned into a pony. She had to show her sons and husband.

“Emily, wait right here, ok? I’m going to get your brothers and your dad.” Her mom said.

Emily had no real choice. She knew that sooner or later, the rest of her family would eventually see the pony she had become. Soon after, her mom returned with her dad and brothers. Like Their mom and even Emily herself, they couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

David kneeled down to get a better look at his sister. “Emily, is that you?”

Emily nodded. “Yeah. I turned into Sunshine Excitement.” She said.

“Oh great! My big brother likes ponies and now I’ve got a pony for a sister! All the kids at school are going to make fun of me!” Hugo pouted, folding his arms.

“Or maybe they’ll think you’re pretty cool for having a sister who’s a pony.” Their mom smiled.

“Yeah right.” Said Hugo sarcastically, believing the opposite to be true.

Emily’s mom got on her knees and hugged Emily again. “Whether you’re a human or a pony, I think you’re pretty cool either way.”

“Thanks mom.” Emily said, smiling happily as she returned her mother’s hug with a hug of her own.

Her older brother and father joined in the hug with Hugo reluctantly joining in shortly after, declaring that maybe he could sort of get used to Emily as a pony. With Emily’s fears quelled, she walked downstairs with her family, a big smile on her little muzzle.  The filly was happy to know that nothing was going to change between her and her family. They loved her as a pony just as much as they did when she was a human. As the family gathered around the kitchen table to have dinner, one thought still lingered in Emily’s mind: when would she get her cutie mark?
Yesterday I was playing Tales of Xillia when suddenly I started thinking of ideas for this transformation story. As soon as I had the idea for it, I just had to start writing it. I've wanted to do a pony transformation story for awhile and one idea I had involved a Brony getting turned into a pony but I personally liked this idea better. Besides, with all the attention on Bronies, it seems like some people tend to forget the audience the show was originally geared towards.

Hope you enjoy the story. I felt the story was a little quick but I still enjoyed writing it.

EDIT: Also, before anyone asks, yes, the pun in the title was intentional.

I wish I could turn into a My Little Pony character ,but I don't know what character I would be ? I Love all of My Little Ponies and the Princesses . I don't want to be an earth pony , maybe a Unicorn or Pegasus ? Maybe  like Twilight Sparkle ? I could be her student ? At this moment I have no idea of a cutie mark yet ?
