                                                  New Dragon's World
                                                   Chapter 8: Reunion With Kyle

Titus started up his car as Sarah, Sean, and Crystal walked towards Titus' car.

"Sarah, can you take those two back to their homes?" Titus asked, reffering to Sean and Crystal.

"Sure." Sarah said.

Titus backed out of the driveway.

"And be sure to tell Lucas what's going on!" Titus shouted before driving off.

Titus rolled up the window and headed for 54th street.

"Jackie, where is your brother's college?" Asked Titus.

"Keep going straight then take a left. Then just keep going straight and you should get there." Jackie explained.

"Okay, then. Let's go get Kyle." Titus said.

While Titus concentrated on the road, Drake and Jackie chatted.

"So, Drake. Is there anyone at your school that you like?" Jackie asked, figuring that talking might pass the time.

"What?" Drake asked.

"I mean is there any girl you like? Any girl you think is cuter than all the others?"

Drake thought that over for a brief second. Then gave his cousin his answer.

"Well...I guess I like Crystal."

"Crystal? Your friend, Crystal?" Jackie asked.

"Yeah. She's cute, she's nice and...well I just like her a lot." Drake said, blushing.

Jackie chuckled. "Drake, your face is turning red. Are you sick or something?" Jackie teased.

Drake was embarassed. Too embarassed to look his cousin in the face. He looked down, his arms rested in his lap. He wondered if Crystal liked him too.

"Is this it?" Titus asked, pointing towards a rather large building.

"Yeah, that's it." Jackie said.

Titus parked his car and the three of them got out. They walked towards the college campus.

"Where's Kyle staying?" Titus asked.

Soon the three heard sounds of partying and cheering coming from one of the frat houses. Jackie looked down in embarassment.

"Jackie, where is he staying?" Titus asked again.

Jackie quickly walked ahead, leaving behind Titus and Drake. Father and son both looked at each other, wondering why she was so mad. The two followed after Jackie.

Jackie stopped in front of the frat house.

"Jackie! Don't tell me--"

Jackie didn't say anything and walked up to the door. After knocking on the door, a drunk college frat boy opened the door. He stumbled out, leaning on the door for support.

"Well...what's up, beautiful?" He said, hiccuping and barely even able to keep his balance.

"I'm looking for Kyle Flamel. Is he here?" Jackie asked.

"WHEW! You his girlfriend or sumthin'?" The guy asked.

"No, dumbass. I'm his older sister now tell him to get his stupid ass over here!" Jackie shouted, furious.

Titus and Drake looked on in shock. They had never seen Jackie this mad. And especially at Kyle. Titus wondered what had happened to make Jackie so mad at Kyle. Titus knew they were close when they were children but now, to Titus, it almost sounded like Jackie was ready to kill Kyle.

The drunk fraternity boy mumbled under his breath. He stumbled over to another frat boy, who was about the same age as him. The man got up and walked over to the door. Unlike the previous frat boy, he was at least able to somewhat keep his balance.

"Jackie?" The man asked.

"Oh, God!" Jackie exclaimed in disgust as she put her hand over her face. "Have you been drinking again?!"

"Just a little." Kyle mumbled.

"Right...and just how much is a little?" Jackie asked.

"Three bottles worth. Or maybe five? I can't remember right now." Kyle said.

Jackie raised her arm and slapped Kyle in the face. The whole frat house fell silent.

"What was that for?!"  Kyle asked.

Jackie grabbed Kyle's arm and pulled him away from the house. Titus and Drake looked at Kyle's frat brothers for a second or so then followed after Jackie. They wanted to make sure she didn't do anything too rash to him. After Drake and Titus left, everyone else got back to partying. No words were spoken by anyone from either side.

"Sit down, Kyle." Jackie ordered.

Kyle sat on the bench.

"Do mom and dad know you drink that much?" Jackie asked.

"Well...I..."

"DO THEY?!" Jackie screamed at Kyle.

"No! God stop shouting! I've got a bad enough headache as it is." Kyle said.

"That's because you spend too much time drinking with your buddies. Do some schoolwork for a change and maybe your head won't hurt as bad."

Kyle didn't say anything.

"Not only that, you're setting a terrible example for our little cousin. You want him to be like you when he grows up?"

"Jackie, he's not stupid." Kyle said.

"Yeah! But he's still a little kid. He doesn't need you making it look like that's okay."

Titus sighed. "Look can we stop fighting? We didn't come here to scold Kyle."

Titus took a seat on the bench next to Kyle.

"Why are you guys here, Uncle Titus?" Kyle asked.

"We actually wanted to tell you something. Kyle...do you remember what happened twenty years ago?" Titus asked.

Kyle let out a psh. "No. I was only four years old. How would I remember any of that?"

"Do you remember a dragon named Saulstrance?" Titus asked.

Kyle tried to remember. He did remember bits and pieces. He remembered a huge building that was holding young dragons captive. He remembered a mean looking man with oddly colored hair. Hair of an orangish kind of color. Unfortunately, that was all he could remember.

"I...remember a man with orangish colored hair. And a building. That's it though." Kyle explained.

"That man was actually a dragon, Kyle. His name was Saulstrance. We thought we killed him back then, but he's actually alive." Titus said in a quiet tone.

"Kyle, do you remember what happened to your grandparents? To Angela?"

"Yeah. I do now. Saulstrance killed Angela by stabbing her in her heart. And my grandparents died when that building blew up." Kyle said, remembering everything.

Titus stood up and took three steps away from Kyle, Jackie and Drake.

"And do you remember what happened to Angela's body?"

Kyle looked down and was silent for a brief moment.

"...Her body was destroyed with the building..." Kyle said, remembering it all.

Kyle remembered everyone evacuating the building. Sarah carried  the unconcious Titus, who was then Doulstraz, in her arms. Kyle and Jackie held their mother's hands as everyone ran out of the facility. Kyle looked back and saw Angela's body, still laying in the same place as when Saulstrance killed her. At that moment, Kyle's memory went blank, all he heard was the sound of the explosion.

Titus gasped in shock. He walked up to Kyle and grabbed him by the shirt.

"WHY DIDN'T ANY OF YOU TELL ME?!!" Titus shouted.

"Uncle, we..."

Titus let go of Kyle's shirt and walked to the car. Drake ran after his dad but was stopped by Jackie.

"Drake...just let your dad be for now." Jackie said in a sorrowful tone.

Drake looked at his father. He had never seen his dad so angry before.

"Jackie..." Drake asked.

"What was Angela like?"

Jackie didn't know how to answer.  "Angela was...really nice from what I saw. When your dad was becoming a dragon...or more like turning back into a dragon, she took care of him until he was back to his old self. I think your dad saw her as being like a mother to him. That's why he was so upset after Saulstrance killed her. Even as a little dragon, your dad kept fighting Saulstrance, wanting to avenge Anegla. If Saulstrance hadn't knocked him out though, your dad might have killed himself just from fighting." Jackie explained.

Drake didn't respond. He couldn't believe all that had happened to his family.

"He probably doesn't say it...but I think out of all of us, your dad is the one who's been hurting the most after she was killed. Your father really loved her, Drake."

Tears began to stream from Jackie's eyes. Drake, soon after, started to cry too.

Back at Titus' car, Titus sat on the back of the car. He reached into his left pocket and pulled out a scale. It was one of Angela's. Before Titus and his friends and family returned home, Ben had recovered a scale for Titus and told him to hold onto it when he comes back to the human realm. Ben told Titus Angela's body made it through the explosion and that they buried her while he was still unconcious. Deep down though, Ben knew he couldn't tell Titus the truth. It would have just broken his heart even more.

Jackie, Kyle and Drake walked towards the car. They walked up to Titus. Titus looked at them, the scale still in his hand.

"Dad, is that Angela's?" Drake asked.

"This was all that was left of her." Was all Titus said.

"Uncle Titus, I'm sorry." Kyle said.

"I'm sorry for snapping at you, Kyle. You didn't deserve that."

Titus hopped off the back of his car. He clenched the scale tightly in his hand.

"Dad?" Drake asked.

"Now I just wanna kill Saulstrance even more." Titus said.

Jackie looked at Kyle.

"Kyle, can you come with us to mom and dad's?" Jackie asked.

"Alright." Kyle said.

"We'll explain everything on the way." Titus said.

Kyle got in the back seat with Drake. Titus got in the front, as did Jackie. The car pulled out of the parking lot and drove off, heading for Ben and Jessie's house.

THE END
Sorry for the long wait, but it's finally up. New Dragon's World Chapter eight!

Hope this was worth the wait. I had a bit of trouble trying to figure out the plot for this chapter. The fraternity bit was planned but the rest pretty much just wrote itself.

Basically this chapter reintroduces Kyle and also reveals one of the biggest mysteries of the series: What happened to Angela's body after Saulstrance's base blew up?

YaY! Angela's not dead!

There were only 2 bodies there. that of Ben's parents ...
-looks for quote-

(quote)
I flew over to the remains of that awful building. My body was starting to feel a little better. I looked around at the smoldering remains. Ben's parents had definitely died in the explosion. But...

"What the...?!" I thought to myself.

Sarah walked over to me.

"What's up, Titus?" Sarah asked.

"I...I don't see Saulstrance's remains." I explained.

He would have known if she was there. So, she's alive!
