It's a Dragon's World
Pt. 11 Kidnapped Titus
"Titus! Come back!" Everyone called.
I didn't pay attention to them. I ran for the explosion.
"We should go after him." Ben said.
"We need to stop him before he does something stupid." Angela said.
I had made it to where the explosion was heard. I hid behind a tree as I watched two humans struggling with another baby dragon.
"Hey! Stop resisting us!" One of the men said, kicking the little dragon.
The little dragon landed on the ground with a thump. I watched as the two men walked towards the dragon. It looked like they were about to place some kind of collar on it.
One of the men grabbed the little dragon by its horns and kept a firm grip as it struggled to get free.
"C'mon! Put that shock collar on already! This little guy's hard to handle!" I heard the man, holding the dragon by the horns say.
The dragon let out a squeal of anguish. I couldn't take anymore. I ran for the guy with the collar and headbutted into him. I knocked him to the ground as well as knocked the collar out of his hands.
"Let that dragon GO!" I commanded.
"You this kid's big brother or something? Try and make me, little dragon!" The man teased.
I was beyond furious now. I unleashed my fire breath and scorched the guy. He let the dragon go. The small dragon ran back towards the entrance to the Dragon Realm. I watched happily as the dragon ran towards its parents, who must've been watching the whole thing.
Just then, I heard one of the guys get up. I jumped back but got knocked unconcious by the guy who was holding onto the dragon. I slowly drifted into unconciousness as I collapsed on the ground.
By the time I came to, I was in a strange room. There were other young dragons, just like me in this strange room. From the looks of things, it was some kind of cell. The small dragons were chained up. Probably so they wouldn't try to escape. I estimated that there were nine other dragons along with me. They all looked very sad and lonely. I tried to understand what they were thinking. They were scared and were crying for their parents to rescue them.
The door to our cell opened and two people, wearing some strange kind of masks, almost like ones scientists use, walked in.
"Looks like he's awake." One of them said.
"Where am I?" I asked.
"This is where the dragons that we sell are kept until their spirits are completely broken." One of the masked men explained.
"Breaking dragons' sprits? Why?!" I asked.
"Dragons are powerful. Well of course you should know that. You ARE one. As children, they have the limitations as human children do. And like human children, they need their parents' protection. Without their parents around, they feel like there's nothing they can do. And so we keep them here until they run out of hope and have no desire to fight back.
"That's horrible!" I exclaimed. "You're messing with innocent CHILDREN!"
"How can you say your race has children? These 'children' eventually grow to become furocious beasts. Beasts that could easily kill the entire human race if they wanted to."
"That's WRONG!" I exclaimed. "Not all dragons are like that. My parents would never kill a human. My friend, Angela. She's lived among humans. She would never try to kill anyone."
"So you HAVE learned who your real parents are. Huh, Titus?" They said.
"What?! How do you...know who I am?" I asked.
The two men removed their masks. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Ben's parents were the captives! But...why?
"Mom? Dad?" I questioned.
"DON'T CALL US THAT, YOU FILTHY DRAGON!" Ben's mom shouted.
"Filthy dragon? You were the ones who took care of me. You looked after me after Ben left for collage. Why would you let Ben bring me into your home if you hated me?" I asked. I started to feel a little sad.
Ben's dad sighed. "Y'know, Titus, there was a time where I didn't think dragons were evil. I was a mythologist. I studied creatures like you. All my years of research were poured into proving that mythical creatures did INDEED exist. Eventually, I learned of a realm where only dragons lived. When you came into our familys' lives, I realized that there may actually be a realm where dragons lived."
"But that doesn't make sense!" I said. "If you didn't know about my homeworld before I appeared in your world, then who is enslaving these baby dragons?" I asked. "And why are you doing this? Why do you guys hate us so much?" I asked, sniffiling a little.
"You'll know who's really behind this in time. Though I will tell you WHY we're capturing these little dragons though." Ben's dad said.
He sighed again then began explaining. "As a dragon, you probably don't know the fear of growing old. Knowing that you don't have a long lifespan. Dragons can live for well over two thousand years. Humans are lucky if they live to even see their eighty eigth birthday. It's that fear which makes most humans despise dragons. Enslaving young dragons and thus making them our slaves is only part of the plan. We also kill adult dragons and, using their blood, extend our own lifespans." Ben's dad explained.
"A dragon's blood...can extend lifespans?" I asked.
"Yes. However, a young dragon's wouldn't be able to. The dragon must have lived for a certain amount of time for its blood to even be drank by humans. If a human drinks a young dragon's blood, their lifespans will be shortened depending on how old the child dragon is."
This was all so hard to believe. But it was also wrong what these people were doing.
"I can't believe it! I can't believe the stuff you do!" I exclaimed. "Killing dragons for your own personal gains, using their blood to extend your life spans, and even ENSLAVING their young just so they can serve you?! That's horrible!"
"Horrible? Dragon children are much different than human children. Dragon children grow up to become human killers. Which is why we must kill the already adult dragons, and enslave the young ones so they don't have a chance to harm us." Ben's mom explained.
"Yeah. It's true that there are bad dragons." I said.
"Well there's something we can agree on." They said.
"But there's also bad humans as well!" I exclaimed. "What you and your little organization is doing is bad. These little guys are dragons, there's no denying that. But they're also CHILDREN! Children who only want to go home and live freely. When I look in their eyes, I see a child's eyes. Not the eyes of a murderer..." I said.
I looked at the dragons. They all looked so sad, yet I could tell they were also happy that someone was sticking up for them.
"That's easy for someone who shares the same kind of blood they do to say." Ben's parents said, walking out. They closed the cell door, locking it tight.
I wondered what Ben and the others were up to. I also wondered if Ben knew his parents were behind this. Would that mean that Ben was working with this strange organization too? I didn't believe that. Ben was a nice person. He wouldn't do anything like that.
Just then, I heard a PSST sound, coming from the cell window. I tried to fly up to see what it was. The chain around my neck made it pretty hard to fly. Yet I was able to catch sight of who it was. it was ANGELA! And everyone else!
"Guys..." I whispered.
"We're here to save you, Titus." Ben said.
"Ben, there's something I need to tell you. About this place... your..."
Just then, I heard the alarm sound. Angela and everyone else was found!
"Tell me later Titus. We gotta go. If we get caught, this rescue mission will end in failure." Ben said. They flew off, towards some mountains in the distance. The guards were talking about scouting the entire organization to make sure none of them made it in.
"Ben. I know you'll save me." I said, quietly.
My friends, as well as my PARENTS, flew off towards the mountains. I hoped I'd be able to see them again.
