Skyle was a junior in high school. He was pretty much considered a nobody. He was constantly picked on by peers and abused by his parents. His father was an alcoholic and almost had no money to support Skyle. Skyle's mother died when he was little and five years later, his father remarried and had another kid. A boy who he named Zack. Zack was the only person who was ever truly nice to Skyle. In short, Skyle's entire life was downright miserable and this is where the story begins.

The class bell rang for eighth hour. The last hour of the day. Skyle had math. He was never fond of math. He actually found it to be boring. He was working on triginometry which seemed to have taken forever.

Fourty minutes passed and Skyle thought to himself " When will this day END?!"  Skyle overheard some classmates talking.

"Hey, you going to the Halloween dance?" One of the girls asked.

"Yeah! Of course I am! I'd never miss a chance to hook up with a hot guy!" The other girl exclaimed.

"So what are you going as?" The girl asked.

"Dunno. You'll have to see."

"Hey, ya wanna know what I'm going as?" Skyle asked.

"Eww. He's talking to us." The girls thought.

Just then, they asked "What? A dragon?" They both laughed mockingly.

Skyle was a huge fantasy fan. Whereas his classmates would have stuff like posters of their favorite bands up on their bedroom walls, Skyle had pictures of dragons and other mythical beasts.

Five minutes later, the bell rang. At last the day was over.

Skyle went to his locker and got his stuff. He quickly headed out the door.

Skyle quickly headed for home. He walked passed the plaza that was near his house. He saw that there was a new shop called "The Second Identity".

"Sounds intresting." Skyle thought. He had time to kill so he figured he'd check it out.

Opening the door, Skyle noticed many different costumes. Strangely enough, they were all of animals.

"May I help you young man?" An old man asked.

Skyle turned around to see the old man. He appeared to have been quite old. Skyle assumed he worked here.

"I'm..just looking."

Skyle looked at his watch. He had to be home soon. Skyle hurried out the door and ran for home. It didn't take long(especially since he was running) but eventually he made it home. He saw that his father's car was parked in the driveway.

"Aw crap!" Skyle thought.

Skyle opened the door and tiptoed to his room.

"Where ya been, brat?!" His dad screamed, sounding a bit slurred.

"I just stopped somewhere on the way home." Skyle tried to explain to his father.

"Don't give me that shit, ya little turd." His father screamed, sounding angrier.

"Well anyways, your step mom and I are goin' out. Here's $30. Go buy somethin' while we're gone."

"Hey dad?" Asked Skyle.

"What? You're still here?! I GAVE YOU THE DAMN $30! WHAT ELSE D'YA WANT?!"

"Well, when's Zack supposed to get home?"

"Huh? I dunno. I think somewhere around 8 or so."

Zack had gone on a week long camping trip with his friends which meant Skyle had the whole night to himself. Maybe longer depending on if they went to the bar.

"Where are you guys going anyways?" Skyle asked.

"D'YA ALWAYS GOTTA ASK QUESTIONS?! where we go every night. The bar."

Skyle knew it. Knowing his dad and stepmom, they'd pratically be sleeping outside by the curb of the bar before they'd find the car.

Skyle's dad walked downstairs. He could hear his new wife's carhorn beeping like crazy.

"Awesome!" Skyle thought. "No, parents, no little brother, I can do whatever I want! I think I'll go back to that costume shop!"

With the thirty dollars his father gave him, Skyle headed out the door and sprinted back to the costume shop.

Upon getting back, he saw the old man fixing up a costume. It looked like a dragon costume.

"Oh? You're back?"

"Yeah!" Skyle exclaimed. "I'm looking for a costume!"

"I assume you mean this dragon costume?" The old man asked.

"Yeah..but how'd you know?"

"Let's just say I have a knack for knowing these things."

"All these costumes look cool! How'd you make 'em?" Skyle asked, intrugued.

"That's a trade secret." The old man said.

"So, uhh, how much for the costume?" Skyle asked.

"Well, this is'nt one of my best works. They're usually very highly priced. But for this, I'll accept no less than $15."

Skyle was excited. It seemed his day was starting to get better. He gave the man half of the money he had and headed out the door with his new costume.

The old man watched Skyle run off for home. He thought to himself, "I hope he gets what he desires."

Skyle realized he wouldn't be able to let his parents see this costume. They thought that stuff like dragons and wizards was "nerdy" and "for little kids" and Skyle really wanted to try on the costume. He hoped it would be perfect for the upcoming Halloween party at his school.

Skyle wondered where a good place to try his new costume on would be. He figured he could try the woods by his house. He ran for home but when he got home, instead of going in the house, he ran straight for the woods.

Skyle looked for a place to sit down as he removed the costume from its packaging. He found a rock right near the entrance. He sat down and carefully removed the costume as to not damage it.

After removing it, he held it in front of himself. It looked so cool. The costume was of a red dragon. However, the parts where there was supposed to be stuffing, like the wings and tail, were empty.

"That guy sold me crap!" Skyle thought to himself. All the costumes he had ever seen of animals at least had stuffing in some parts of it yet this costume had no stuffing.

"Oh well..." He figured. He untied the back of the costume and was about to put it on when he figured he'd be to hot with all his clothes on.

Skyle removed all his clothes except for his boxers. He put on the costume and as he was about to tie the strings together, he noticed that the strings were gone. In fact, his hair was ALSO gone! In their place was a smooth scaly head. The horns of the costume began to move upwards, almost like they were inflating. Skyle's head began to hurt as he felt parts of his skull merge with the horns. He felt the horns. They were REAL!

"How's this happening?!" Skyle thought, becoming scared. "It's just a costume! How's it doing this?!"

His spine started to tingle. Just then, he felt a sharp jolt of pain in his back. Once it subsided, he looked back and noticed the costume's tail straightening itself out. The tail started to move. Was Skyle halucinating? He wasn't sure but he did know something was wrong here.

"What'd that guy do to the costume?!" He thought.

He tried to yell for help but instead a loud roar emerged. He didn't realize it but his head became one with the head of the costume! He wondered if his hands were still human. He extended the hands on his costume up to his face. He noticed that the claws on the costume had also straightened out, just like his new horns. He looked down at his feet. They felt bigger and more powerful. His eyes began to sting as they slowly became slits. Skyle's shoulder blades felt excruciatingly painful as they merged with the costume's wings. Lastly, Skyle felt himself begin to grow and become more powerful. He was soon almost as big as his house. His wingspan reaching to at least 15ft and his tail reaching to a maximum of 8 feet. His tail waved around, knocking down some of the trees. His transformation was complete.

With his new ears, which had mreged with the fins of the costume, Skyle could hear someone walking towards him. He was surprised to see it was his little brother, Zack.

He thought of flying away but it was too late. He was already found out. Zack looked up at the huge dragon in amazement. Despite being seven years of age and being quite naive, Zack couldn't believe that he was actually looking at a dragon.

Zack looked over and saw his brother's clothes. He was shocked and close to tears. He thought this dragon ate his brother.

"What'd you do to Skyle?!" Zack screamed, crying and pounding on one of the dragon's toes.

The dragon lowered its mighty head and carefully, with its snout, moved Zack aside. It extended a talon and carefully wrote in the ground "I am your brother."

Zack looked at what it wrote. He gasped when he read this. "But how?"

Again extending its talon, the dragon wrote "A costume turned me into this."

Now Zack was naive but he wasn't stupid. He had a hard time believing that a human sized costume could turn a human into a gigantic dragon that was nearly as big as a house.

Zack asked his brother "Where'd you get this costume?"

The dragon etched into the ground "The Second Identity".

Zack remembered visiting that store on his way home. He decided that if his brother was now a dragon that he'd want to be one too. He asked the dragon where the money for the costume was and it pointed to what were its pants. zack rushed over and searched both pockets, eventually finding the money.

"Skyle, wait right here,K? I'm gonna get a costume." Zack said.

Skyle was confused as to why Zack would want to be a dragon but he decided he'd wait.

A half an hour later, Skyle saw something heading his way. It wasn't Zack but a dragon like he was now. He assumed it was Zack.

"Zack?" The dragon that was Skyle asked.

"Yep. Looks like I can understand you now!" Zack exclaimed.

"But why? Why would you want to be a dragon too?"

"To be with you. I'm sick of being a human. I'm bullyed, beat up. This way I can be what I always thought myself to be. And I can be with the one person I care about." Zack explained.

Skyle felt a tear in his eye. He walked over to his little brother and hugged him. While he did, tears flowed out of his now draconic eyes. He thought there was no one who cared about him. But he found that one person who did.

"Skyle, are you okay? You're crying." Zack asked when their brotherly hug was finished.

"It's nothing, Zack. I just love you, little bro." Skyle said with a smile on his face. This was the first time in a long time where he could really smile. He hadn't smiled like that since his mom was alive.

Skyle and Zack opened their wings and flew off, into the horizon. They flew passed the costume shop. The old man was standing outside as he watched the brothers fly by.

"Looks like he's finally found happiness." The old man said. "Well, Drethan, looks like there's more work to do." The old man, now revealed to be Drethan said to himself.

Skyle thought to himself "I wish you could see me now, mom."

Skyle had no purpose in his human life. He was outcast. He thought he was all alone but he knew there was someone just like him: His own brother. Skyle had a new life and a new reason to live it. As did his brother. He wasn't sure if he'd ever go back though. He wondered if maybe the two of them would end up on Discovery Channel or even YouTube. He wasn't sure. But there was one thing he was sure of. And that was he had a new reason to live.
